Backgrounds For Computer.. Problems?

So, I want to change the background to my computer.

And whenever I right click, properties, desktop, where I would normally get the various backgrounds it won't let me click ANY of the choices. Nor make some of my own.

If I have a picture and right click, then put as "Set desktop background."

My background stays exactly the same, which is a boring blue colour.

Anyone know how I can allow myself to click it?

And be able to put backgrounds again.

Sounds like you may inadvertently made some changes at some time which over-ride what you are trying to do now, like perhaps you have modified theme and you have blue as the background colour. Do right button of mouse again on the desktop, down to properties to display the properties display window. Check the first tab Themes first. If you have a modified Theme take it back to Windows XP.Next vcick on desktop tab and take the background to None. The fact that you have the background blue says that you still have the default setting under the Appearance Tab which should be OK. However, the fact that you have now cleared the background to be None, you should be able to set whatever picture you like as the new background. If this doesnt work I would be interested in knowing.
